Prisoners are dragged from their cells at 4am without warning to be given a lethal injection Vietnam's use of the death penalty has been thrust into the spotlight after a real estate tycoon was on Thursday sentenced to be executed in one of the biggest corruption cases in the country's history. Truong My Lan, a businesswoman who chaired a sprawling company that developed luxury apartments, hotels, offices and shopping malls, was arrested in 2022.

Six Hanged in Central Iran

Iran Human Rights, October 4: Six prisoners were hanged in the prison of Yazd (central Iran) early yesterday morning October 3, reported the Iranian state media.

Quoting hea of the Yadz Judiciary "Heydari" Iranian State Broadcasting reported that "five of the prisoners were convicted of possession, distribution and trafficking of 396 kilograms of different types of narcotic drugs including morphine, opium and heroin". One of the prisoners was convicted of a murder that he had allegedly committed in 2009.

None of the prisoners were identified by name.

At least 219 prisoners have been executed since the June Presidential elections in Iran.
